Temporary Dominican Republic Residency:

If you would like to proceed with obtaining your Dominican Republic residency the first step is to hire a Dominican residency lawyer. Your Dominican residency lawyer will request a Certificate of “No Criminal Records” be issued by the National Police. Next you will be heading to the Medical Department of Immigration Office in Santo Domingo for a complete Medical Check-up (blood test and chest x-rays – costs (approx $125 not included in our fees).

Your Dominican residency lawyer will now be ready to submit your documents, and upon approval you will receive a temporary Dominican Republic residency card and a Dominican Republic identification card. This process takes approximately 3-4 months, depending on the Dominican authorities.

Permanent Dominican Republic Residency

Once your temporary Dominican Republic residency card expires, you can renew your residency permit and change your status to Permanent Dominican Residency. Your Permanent Dominican Residency is valid for two years at a time and the Dominican identification card is valid for six years.

After your first two years with your permanent Dominican residency permit, you may apply for your Dominican citizenship and become a formally nationalized Dominican.
